Our aim is to create a Facebook group which is friendly, supportive and informative. The following guidelines are intended to keep it running smoothly.
1 – Confidentiality: The Facebook group is “closed” so only group members can see your posts. Being part of a small community, and often knowing each other from other contact we have, it’s crucial we all take a stand against gossip. Anybody found to be discussing/posting personal or sensitive details members have shared here, in other situations or on other forums will be removed from the group, at the discretion of the committee.
2 – Anti-discrimination: Blind Mums Connect includes members from all over the UK, from a variety of cultural backgrounds and with a wide range of experiences. This is one of the great things about taking part in our forums – we all get to ~chat to mums we might not otherwise run into in our ordinary daily lives. We do ask you to please be sensitive to the differences between us, and respectful to the different points of view and parenting styles you encounter. We won’t always agree on everything, but remember that the groups exist to provide support, so please try to keep disagreements constructive and not unkind. Members who are hostile to others, or use language which is discriminatory will be removed from the group, at the discretion of the committee.
3 – Membership: The Facebook group is a “closed” group for full members only – VI mums and mums-to-be with all levels of visual impairment. The members list is visible to any Facebook user.
4 – Introductions: We know how busy you are, but if you could find time to introduce yourself soon after joining the group, it will give others the opportunity to welcome you, making you feel part of things and letting others know you’re there and reading their posts. We aren’t asking for a life history, but this group is cosier than most online forums you find, so come and join the chat!
and 5: We hope you will enjoy being part of the Facebook group. If you have any problems, please contact us and the group admins, Kim and Rachael, will be happy to help.
